S. Timothy Kochis
CEO, Kochis Global
Kochis is the CEO of Kochis Global, a global financial services consultancy, and the former CEO and chairman of Aspiriant. Kochis has nearly 50 years of experience in personal financial and investment planning. He has been active throughout his career in setting standards for the profession, having served as president of The CFP Board of Standards and as chair of the Financial Planning Standards Board and as a trustee of the Charles Schwab Investment Management Mutual Funds and ETF’s Board. He founded a professional certification program at the University of California, Berkeley, where he was an instructor for over 18 years.
Kochis has been routinely included in lists of the country’s most prominent Financial Advisors since the early ‘90’s and was ranked number one in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times. He earned his master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Chicago, his law degree from the University of Michigan, and his undergraduate degree from Marquette University. Kochis served in the US Army, which included a tour of duty in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart for wounds received in action.
Kochis’ current civic engagements include: the Investment Committee of the Asian Art Museum, the board of The 1990 Institute, the board of trustees for the University of San Francisco (Executive Committee, Investment Committee, and Development Committee, Chair), and the board of The Asia Foundation (Vice Chair, Treasurer, Executive Committee, Investment Committee, Chair).
